Rev James William David Rogers

Born in Surrey in 1973, James worshipped in 1st Bangor Presbyterian and attended Bangor Grammar School where he achieved 10 GCSEs and 4 A levels. He went to Stranmillis College to train as a Primary School teacher and took up a post for 5 years teaching mathematics, RE, PE and ICT in Saintfield High School. When he decided to go into the Christian Ministry he studied at Union theological College and attained a Diploma in Ministry in 2004 and a Master of Divinity in 2006. He was licensed in 1st Bangor on 20th June 2004.

James is married to Karen and they have 4 young children, Andrew, Hannah, Jonathan and Sarah.

His interests include music, both playing the guitar and listening; sport, where he is engaged in football, tennis, going to the gym, swimming and walking. He enjoys reading popular Christian books as well as thriller and detective novels. He is very interested in current affairs and tries to keep up to date.

He has progressed from being Assistant Minister to Associate Minister in Whiteabbey Presbyterian (2006). His responsibilities in Whiteabbey have included: preaching, planning, developing and leading worship, pastoral care, home groups, Christianity Explored and whole life discipleship. James is on the Board of Mission in Ireland and serves on the panel for Missional Plans. He is a member of the working group for the ‘Kids Praise Party’ and is a member of the SU council.

James very strongly believes in team ministry … he had experienced that as a young person and has worked in that type of situation. He became an elder at age 22 in 1st Bangor Presbyterian.
